Hey PlayCanvas devs 👋 Yes, this one’s for YOU 🚀 Some announcements are bigger than others. This one is… pretty big. At least for me 🤓 CAD algorithms from bitbybit.dev now work inside PlayCanvas. This ships with the first 2026 release, v0.21.0. 🔹 You can check the release notes here: https://lnkd.in/dKUJapsa 🔹 There’s also a blog post with more context: https://lnkd.in/d884f4XX 🔹 And because announcements without demos feel illegal, here’s a live one: https://lnkd.in/dSSXAzjB 🔹 Yes - there’s also a PlayCanvas runner example. Of course there is 🙂 Include one JavaScript file and you're ready: https://lnkd.in/dUvKdZCi With this, PlayCanvas joins BabylonJS and ThreeJS, making up the (very unofficial) holy trinity of web rendering engines. Supporting PlayCanvas helps make Bitbybit available to more developers and pushes our core CAD algorithms to be more generic and robust. So what do PlayCanvas devs actually get out of this? In short: ~1300 CAD algorithms (and growing) for building parametric models used in 3D printing, engineering, industrial design, and similar “serious” areas. You can experiment with them visually at https://bitbybit.dev, which tends to make the concepts click a bit faster. Sure, static models can be imported via glTF. But when some geometry in the scene needs to update in real time - or when shapes can’t be built from basic engine primitives - things get tricky. That’s exactly the gap Bitbybit is meant to fill. On a personal note: I’ve been working with PlayCanvas for a bit, and it genuinely impressed me. It’s fast, clean, and renders geometry beautifully. This demo especially made me pause and think, wait… this runs in a browser? 😄 https://lnkd.in/djKxP5_U If you’re curious, you can learn more about PlayCanvas + Bitbybit here: https://lnkd.in/ddDmqSUt Game engines aren’t just for games anymore. With proper geometry kernels running in WebWorkers and WASM (OCCT3D, Manifold by Emmett Lalish, JSCAD…), they’re more than capable of handling serious CAD workflows. Happy CAD’ing everyone 🧡 #PlayCanvas #Bitbybit #CAD #3D #WebGL #GameEngine #ParametricDesign #Design #ECommerce #Web #Wasm #OpenCascade #OCCT3D #Manifold #JSCAD #GameDev #IndieDev #Software #Algorithms #ComputationalDesign #Geometry #Engineering #Math #EdTech #STEM #STEAM #Programming #WebDev #Parametric #IndustrialDesign #Engineering #ThreeJS #BabylonJS

Proud to finally be able to show the world what we've been working on! Using our our OKO rendering technology based off a custom fork of PlayCanvas we managed to distill Hollywood quality vfx down to a Web App thats anyone can try. Go check it out! Best of all, theres more coming soon, come back after ep2 airs! https://lnkd.in/eVkkSBFD https://lnkd.in/eZzhrxsh
It started as a question a few months back: how do we take fans from their living rooms directly onto a Fallout set in a way that’s accessible, yet completely authentic to the show? The answer lay in the very assets used to create the series. From there, we collaborated with Amazon MGM Studios, Amazon Studios Tech Operations, and Kilter Films to create The World of Fallout – an interactive, 360-degree experience where fans can explore a mix of familiar and brand-new locations from the Fallout universe. We took the original high-fidelity Unreal Engine assets used in the show’s virtual production pipeline and reimagined them for web and mobile. Using our OKO platform, we rebuilt and optimized these environments for the digital experience. Our artists pushed lighting, atmosphere, and set dressing to recreate the exact mood and physical presence of the show. We layered each environment with "Mainframe Terminals," unlocking exclusive concept art, exclusive clips and bonus content. From our virtual production and product teams, to studio and all our incredible collaborators, this was a true team effort from start to finish.
